This website is growing with the Melksham Campus project
Wiltshire Council are building a Campus at the Melksham House site in Melksham to bring together many of the facilities that are currently provided in 9 different locations within the Melksham area. The cost of this new facility is significant and completion is planned for 2014 with no facilities closing until replacements are in place. This is a substantial investment for Wiltshire Council and they therefore want to make sure it provides services and facilities the Melksham community area needs. To this end they have set up a Shadow Community Operations Board to ensure community involvement.

Shadow Community Operations BoardThe Shadow Community Operations Board (SCOB) is made up of community representatives and operates to specific terms of reference agreed by the Area Board. It is broadly looking at effective community engagement to ensure local people and groups are directly involved in the design of their campus and the identification of the services to be provided. The SCOB is starting by focussing on the consultation carried out by the Community Area Partnership last year. |
ConsultationTwo consultations have taken place, the first carried out by Wiltshire Council in the Autumn of 2010 to assist with the drawing up of the Campus Proposal and the second carried out in February/March 2011 by the Melksham Community Area Partnership (MCAP), at the request of the Melksham Area Board, to establish community reaction to the proposal by capturing comments and suggestions. One of the most significant outcomes of the MCAP consultation was the wish for a campus close to the town centre and the subsequent offer and purchase of the Melksham House site by Wiltshire Council. |
This websiteThis site, sponsored by Melksham Community Area Partnership, is the main method by which the SCOB will keep the community informed regarding suggestions made, progress on the project in general and provide a Blog facility where comments and suggestions can be made. To ensure this website remains suitable for everyone as a source of information and a mechanism for comment or constructive criticism, we must insist that you comply with the guidelines detailed in the Online Blog User Guide |

My wife and I enjoy regular lunches at Melksham House as do many other people in town so can you confirm if these facilities will still be available? I’m also concerned about the skittle alleys and bar. Some of us aren’t really interested in a sports centre but recreation is an important issue.
I enjoy the lunches at Melksham House too. And what an excellent community service. We’re very much aware of skittles, snooker, lunches, etc and they’re very much on our agenda. At this stage we’re learning about all of these issues and there’s every intention to continue to provide very wide community services in and through the Campus program.
